The "World Atlas of Sexualities" by Nadine Cattan and Stéphane Leroy teaches us surprising facts about sexuality around the world.
For example, in Greece, the average number of monthly sexual encounters is 11.5, while in Sweden this number is (only) 7.7! Yet we thought the cold brought bodies closer, didn't we?

Apparently, Nordic countries are lacking sex! And yes, the Vikings are not what they used to be! Indeed, 53% of Norwegians would like to make love more often, while only 19% of Croats and Portuguese want more sexual intercourse.

According to a 2018 Durex survey, the Japanese, unfortunately, are in last place with an average of 37 sexual encounters per year! We hope it's not because of sushi...

France, a country of gastronomy, fashion, and wine, but also one of the countries with the highest infidelity rates! The number of French men and women registering on the Gleeden website (an extramarital dating site) makes us one of the leading countries, along with Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.

Speaking of Spain, did you know that the age of consent is 13, whereas for France it is 15 years and 3 months, while, for example, it is only 18 in Turkey. The striking fact is that, ultimately, Spaniards have their first sexual experience on average at 17 and a half.

Back in France, according to a 2019 IFOP survey, women from higher social classes are the ones who masturbate the most, with 85% of executives and intellectual professions against 61% of the "working class." They are respectively 62% against 34% who watch pornography and 58% against 42% who use a sex toy!

Let's talk a bit about our American friends. According to the Durex survey, men average 11.8 different sexual partners in their lifetime, compared to 16.7 for the French (that's a lot). Our Greek friends average 15 partners, while the English have 8.6. The Chinese close this ranking, as 60% of them have only had one partner.

And now, a quick point on fellatio! While it is common practice here, as it is throughout Europe, it is poorly perceived by our English friends and considered "unnatural" in India, the country of the Kama Sutra, nonetheless!

Finally, even if sodomy is an increasingly adopted practice, it still remains taboo for many of us. In the USA, 13 states explicitly forbid it, even (as in Georgia) between husband and wife! The same refusal exists in England, China, Nicaragua, and certain Caribbean islands. It was only accepted in Israel in 1988.
